Thaxted has been twinned to the French town of Saint-Vrain, just south of Paris, for nearly 30 years now! The Twinning Association ‘exists to promote friendship and cultural understanding and to foster an ongoing relationship with Saint-Vrain and its people’.

Thaxted Twinning Association had the most amazing long weekend with our Twinning friends in St. Vrain, France 5 – 8 June 2026.

We have long standing members and younger families who enjoy exchanging and being warmly welcomed and hosted. It is not necessary to speak French but is also ideal for younger members who wish to improve their spoken French and anybody else!

The only cost for Thaxted Twinning members is the Euro Star from St.Pancras – Gare du Nord  (children of members travel FREE). People can also opt to travel by their own means.

We are looking forward to receiving and hosting members/families of the Jumelage St. Vrain Thurs 6 – Sunday 9 May 2027. We already have plans to entertain them in Thaxted (paid for by TTA and not host families).

Please can you let us know if you live in Thaxted or surrounding areas if you would like to become a member of Thaxted Twinning Association and host a family next year. This would automatically enable you to return to St. Vrain in 2028.

Many of our members make private visits to France and stay with the friends they have made through twinning. There is also a good deal of regular contact by emails, WhatsApp, Zoom etc.

In fact, the Twinning Association is perfect for families to get involved in. It is not necessary to speak French, however, it is a brilliant chance to have a go or improve!

WE WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE HEARING FROM YOU – SEE OUR CONTACT DETAILS BELOW – KINDEST REGARDS Thaxted Twinning Association
